If your memories of school trips are of trailing around dusty museums, counting the moments until you could visit the gift shop, you will be pleasantly surprised at how fun and exciting today’s school trips can be. Just a few miles from Leicester are countless places to take school classes, all offering a wide range of fun and educational activities that will enhance their learning and stimulate their imagination.

In our latest article, we’ve focussed on three particularly fantastic school trips in the Leicester area sure to engage and inspire your pupils. Our years of experience, high safety standards and discounted rates make our coaches and minibuses the perfect way to get to these great locations.

National Space Centre

Leicester is home to the UK’s National Space Centre. Opened in 2001, it welcomes around a quarter of a million visitors every year. The centre has a variety of interactive galleries and displays, a Planetarium show and offers trails and workshops for schools. It organises regular visits from astronauts and scientists, and has close ties with the University of Leicester. The centre has educational space mission simulators, where students can take part in simulated missions for groups of 14-34 that are designed to fit the requirements of the National Curriculum.

Fosse Arts Centre

Bring the art curriculum to life by taking your pupils to Fosse Arts Centre on Mantle Road, Leicester. This has two studios, one for ceramics and pottery and another for general arts. The arts centre offers Active Learning Sessions for schools, which cover textiles, ceramics and pottery, sculpture and 3D construction and general arts. These workshops are led by professional artists who are experienced and qualified, and they can be tailored for those with physical or learning disabilities.

Foxton Locks

Take your pupils outdoors to visit the largest flight of staircase canal locks in England at Foxton Locks. Our coaches and minibuses will take them to the Grand Union Canal, west of Market Harborough. There is a museum at the site where they can learn more about the history of the locks and their construction, including models, touch-screen computers and a play-boat. The museum can organise conducted tours of the site and museum for school groups.

Make your next school trip a success by using our safe and reliable coaches and minibuses to take your pupils to one of these great Leicester days out. All our vehicles have seat belts, and many have wheelchair access and low step aids. We pride ourselves on our strong relationship with local schools, helped by our well trained and friendly drivers and our clean, well-maintained and safe vehicles. We offer discounted rates for schools, colleges and universities, whether you need a one-off trip or a contracted period, so call us today on 0116 260 3979 or 0116 260 7130.
